As I/ITSEC 2019 draws nearer, the team at Modern Military Training eagerly awaits the insights and innovations to be shared at this year’s show. The show floor is always jam-packed with cutting-edge simulation and training technologies that are pushing the envelope for the defense community’s training needs.
With the theme this year being “Winning the War of Cognition by Pushing Readiness and Lethality Boundaries,” we are interested to learn about how industry and the Department of Defense are working together to optimize warfighter readiness in a battlespace that is increasingly data-driven.
Harnessing and applying data largely contributes to the quality and fidelity of simulation training programs and what can be optimized with today’s Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) offerings. In a recent podcast interview with the VR/AR Association, RADM James Robb, NTSA President, speaks to the importance of immersive technology in the quest for the best training solutions available for today’s warfighter.
During the conversation, RADM Robb stated, “I think it’s very interesting to see…how readiness became a super big issue. All of the services have driven investments significantly into synthetic training and synthetic training environments.”
When asked about I/ITSEC and NTSA’s long-term vision for the show, RADM Robb excitedly explained all of the diverse innovation to be found at the show. “The show floor is like a festival of training and simulation,” he explained. “It’s 500 companies doing everything from shooting simulations, high-end AI kinds of interactions with intelligent tutoring, to simulations that involve design. There’s just something for everybody.”
