Unprepared and disengaged soldiers are more prone to be affected by battlefield threats. With the emergence of new technologies entering the military domain, additional demands are being placed on humans to operate them. Cognitive overload impacts the ability for a soldier to obtain situational awareness and stay alert and fatigue may lead to loss of attention or disengagement. This paper describes a reliable and valid assessment of cognitive workload that when combined with objective measures of task performance, provides a methodology to assess training effectiveness.
